Brooklyn Rapper Pop Smoke Killed During Home Invasion
The up and coming rapper was allegedly shot by two men who entered his home in the Hollywood Hills.
Pop Smoke, rising rapper was reportedly shot and killed Wednesday morning.
TMZ reports it appears he was involved in a home invasion robbery. Pop Smoke whose real name is Bashar Jackson was at a home in the Hollywood Hills at around 4:30 a.m. when two men wearing hoodies and masks broke into his home, according to law enforcement sources. The home was an Airbnb registered to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave and her husband, reports Fox 11.
Additionally, the two men reportedly fired multiple shots that struck and critically wounded the rapper. The two men were seen fleeing on foot. Pop Smoke was then rushed by ambulance to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in West Hollywood where he was pronounced dead.
According to the TMZ report, the suspects have not been caught or identified. At the moment, it’s unclear if Pop Smoke knew the shooters. One man was placed in handcuffs, but cops determined he wasn’t involved, he was later released.
Republic Records, the rapper's record label has confirmed he was shot during a home invasion and was later pronounced dead.
Pop Smoke recently released a new album Meet the Woo 2 stacked with features by Fivio Foreign, Quavo and Lil Tjay to name a few.
Joseph Carroza, an executive vice president at Republic Records shared the following on Pop Smoke's death:
"We are devastated by the unexpected and tragic loss of Pop Smoke. Our prayers and thoughts go out to his family, friends and fans, as we mourn this loss together."
