President Barack Obama is gon' be alright. It's already been noted that the leader of the free world is a fan of D'Angelo, Erykah Badu, Mos Def and Lauryn Hill, but now in a new interview with People magazine, it's been revealed that he has a special soft spot in his heart (and headphones) for TDE hero/Black Hippy soldier/all-around hip-hop phenomenon Kendrick Lamar.

With it's half-drunk lumbering beat and deeply religious about generosity, greed and the lies we tell ourselves, "How Much A Dollar Cost" off of To Pimp A Butterfly was Barack Obama's favorite song of 2015. That insight was revealed by First Lady Michelle Obama herself, who also attested that her own favorite jam of the year has been Mark Ronson & Bruno Mars's "Uptwon Funk," which, damn. It seems as if the White House really knows how to get down.

The presidential accolades for Lamar seem to the be the cherry on the top of a week that's seen him net a year's-best 11 Grammy nominations, along with the top spot on numerous publications' and critics' year-end bests lists. And with tracks like "Alright," "King Kunta," and "i" getting so much of the love, it's nice to see a dense deep cut off To Pimp a Butterfly get recognition.
