Pusha T Targets McDonalds' McRib in New Arby's Promo
In a new Arby's commercial spot titled "Rib Roast," Pusha T disses McDonalds and their iconic McRib sandwich.
Pusha Tis pulling no punches against McDonalds. On Tuesday (September 27), Arby's dropped a second promotional spot featuring the It's Almost Dry rapper, following their "Spicy Fish Diss" from March of this year.
The "Rib Roast" supports Arby's new Real Country Style Rib Sandwich, with the promotional clip starring bull riding champion Ezekial “Blue” Mitchell. Along with the diss track, Pusha collaborated with Arby's on an exclusive line of "Real Country Style Rib" inspired merch, with bolo ties, trucker hats, and shirts.
Pusha's beef with McDonalds is 20 years in the making, as the rapper didn't receive publishing although he wrote the fast food chains' "I'm Lovin' It" jingle in 2003. In 2018, Pusha spoke on Drink Champs, saying he took a "super L" with the business move.
“Just upfront, no publishing," he said. "Shoutout to [former music executive] Steve Stoute, he gave me the check and I was like ‘Ahhh great’… I want artists to know that part. Keep your publishing. That check will be nice, but ‘I’m Lovin’ It’ been running for how long now? I did This in ’03. Who knows what it would have been.”
Pusha T is currently on the North American leg of his It's Almost Dry Tour, with remaining dates in St. Louis, Phoenix, Dallas, Miami and more. The European half of the tour begins on November 30 in Zurich, concluding with a Dublin concert on December 21.
