Q-Tip to Play Miles Davis in New York City-Based Play
A legend playing a legend
Q-Tip is a man of many talents: He's a rapper, singer, producer, and performer.
Oh, and he's an actor.
Q-Tip will star in a play called My Funny Valentine. In the play, Tip will play legendary jazz musician Miles Davis. The play will be about a day in the life of Davis. It will take place in 1981.

Legendary writer Nelson George made the announcement on his Instagram. He posted a picture standing next to Tip, with the legendary rapper holding the script. (Scroll down to see the picture.)
Q-Tip has been talking about this project for years. In 2010, Tip gave an interview to XXL about the play. When asked if he was nervous about playing Miles Davis, Tip said:
Nah, not really, because I relate to him. But I was a lil nervous at first. But we’ve already done some table readings and Miles’ nephew, and some of his really close friends that he knew for many years — a girlfriend of two — and some of his old band mates have checked out the table reading like, “Oh, shit, they nailed it.” So that made it easier for me. It let me know my instincts are right.

The play will open up later this month, on March 26th, at Joe’s Pub in New York City. Tickets are $20.
