Quadron's Coco O. Releases Debut Solo Album 'It's A Process'
The Danish singer steps out on her own with a stunning full-length solo debut.
Six years after her first solo transmission, Coco O. has shared her debut album, It's A Process.
Released on Friday, the 13-track project is a stunningly intimate showcase of the singer's voice across a range of compositions pulling from all eras of r&b and soul. It's anchored by two lead singles, the slow-burning ballad "Bad At All" and the smooth, mid-tempo jaunt "Soldier."
"I have been looking forward to this day for almost 7 years now. To be honest, I have struggled to make this album. I needed to take some time to figure out what I’m about as an artist, and how to take ownership of my own process," the singer wrote in a brief statement on Instagram (see below.) "I am so grateful for the talented musicians/friends who created this music with me," she added.
And it's been a long time coming. Coco O. is one-half of the (now seemingly defunct) Danish r&b duo, Quadron. The group, comprising the singer and producer Robin Hannibal, released their self-titled debut in 2010. After signing with Epic, Quadron released a sophomore album, Avalanche, in 2013, featuring the smoldering Kendrick Lamar collaboration, "Better Off." In the years since, Coco appeared on projects from Tyler, The Creator, Joey Dosik, Vulfpeck, and others. And at the top of this year, the group gained new visibility when Drake sampled a live take of their song "Pressure" on "Lemon Pepper Freestyle."
