Quavo Drops "Greatness," Another Tribute to Takeoff
After the recent tribute single "Without You," Quavo has released a follow-up song called "Greatness" in dedication to Takeoff.
Quavo is crowning late nephew, Takeoff, as "Greatness." On Wednesday (February 22), the Migos member released the follow-up single and music video dedicated to Takeoff, one month after dropping tribute song "Without You." The Chris Dvon-directed visual for "Greatness" sees Quavo, legal name Quavious Keyate Marshall, at an “undisclosed location" where he flaunts his jewelry and cash, willing to trade it all just to see his "dawg one more time."
Also in the song, Marshall acknowledges the tension between him and fellow Migos member, Offset: "So don’t ask about the group/He gone, we gone, young n****, it can’t come back," he raps.
During the 65th Annual Grammy Awards earlier this month, Marshall performed "Without You" during the In Memoriam segment with gospel act Maverick City Music. After the awards ceremony, reports surfaced that Marshall and Offset got into a physical altercation backstage when Marshall allegedly refused to perform with the Father of 4 rapper. Offset would later deny getting into a fight with Marshall, although Entertainment Tonight caught Cardi B scolding two people backstage, those allegedly being Marshall, and Offset, her husband of five years.
Last October, Marshall co-released album Only Built for Infinity Links with Takeoff as duo Unc & Phew. On November 1, Takeoff was murdered at Houston's 810 Billiards and Bowling. In January, suspect Patrick Xavier Clark was released on a $1 million bond from the Harris County jail, but is scheduled to appear in court on March 9, per CBS News.
