Quincy Jones Introduces Playground Sessions Software - "The Rosetta Stone Of Music"
Legendary music producer Quincy Jones--once a disciple of Duke Ellington and famously mentor to Michael Jackson--is not stranger to the concept of giving game. Perhaps appropriate then that the octogenarian G--not content with managing girl groups and being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame--is launching a new music education software called Playground Sessions. The program will give piano lessons by teaching students their favorite songs. Using an online sheet music store and a MIDI keyboard, non-musicians can learn basic music theory skills through video tutorials. Speaking at Bel-Air Hotel, Jones said
"I think it's one of the secrets to getting the kids to understand their own culture. Every country in the world understands more about music than we do. It's going to make people that don't even want to be musicians play."
A subscription to the program costs $9.99 a month. In a beta period of the product, they held a contest to have fans go from a beginner to an intermediate piano player within 30 days. Documentation of one member's journey can be seen below.
