Redman Says He & Method Man Were Not Aware 'How High 2' Was in the Works
How high? So high that I can touch the sky...
Method Man and Redman will not appear in the upcoming How High sequel. Instead, Lil Yachty and DC Young Fly will star in the movie. That news was a shock to fans of the original movie. So much so, that a petition was started to get Meth and Red in the movie. (The petition is very close to reaching its goal of 6,000 signatures, by the way.)

Now, in a new interview, Redman explains what exactly happened. The legendary rapper appeared on the Grass Routes podcast. Redman said he was never contacted by MTV — the company that is producing the How High sequel — about the movie:
Long story short is that me and Meth was not aware that they were doing this transaction with the movie. I’m not mad at Yachty or DC Fly — like I said, it has nothing to do with them. And I’m not even upset because God always places things in the right position anyway; I’m just following the path...But my thing is when you have a brand, like Red and Meth, that kind of helped built and created this entity of How High and shooting a movie on How High — I mean, marijuana and being in college. Those were all our ideas. And when the new deal came about, we wasn't involved in it.

Interestingly enough, Red and Meth had been tinkering with a How High 2 script with other writers for years.
A branch that’s under Universal decided 'we're gonna shoot this movie. And they did not need permission from us because we didn’t own the rights to How High. Bottom line, this branch of people decided "why don't we get someone younger to do the movie?" And that's when they came about Lil Yachty and DC Young Fly.
