Rick James On Draft-Dodging, Prince, Cocaine + More In Posthumous Autobiography 'Glow'
Rick James' posthumous autobiography Glow (or as I like to call it Confessions Of A Super Freak Part Duex) just dropped and it's chock full of impropriety. Much like its predecessor (where James was literally writing his memoirs from a prison cell) Glow finds the Stone City funkateer reminiscing on his past drug abuse, fleeing to Canada in a draft-dodging effort, feuding with Prince/George Clinton/anyone who was pursuing a career in the entertainment industry and much too much more to tell in these few lines.
While James alone penned COSF, Glow features contributions from the accomplished pen of David Ritz (of Divided Soul : The Life Of Mavin Gayefame) who was able to wrap up the piece after James' untimely passing and bring the raucous legacy of one funk's great pioneers to the masses. So than thank him if ya see him, this one's gonna be hot. You can read some compelling excerpts from Glow over at Rolling Stone, but you should be sure to cop the posthumous release on Amazonfor tale after tale of Rick James' debauchery. I've yet to cop, but you best believe that it's next on the list. Just remember: cocaine is helluva a drug and Rick James was a helluva character.
