Rihanna Posts Two Teases Of Her New Unreleased Track "Higher"
While we've already heard Rihanna make a big move this year with her Kanye West and Paul McCartney collab track "FourFiveSeconds," her long-awaited R8 LP is still a dream in the hearts of R&B fans worldwide. But at least a few moments of future sound to come have nowfound their way through time to our ears. Rihanna posted two snippets of what appears to be a new song, "Higher," playing on a home stereo off. The two clips only add up to 30 seconds of material, but what can be heard is a clear and classic soul-ish track, coated with Rihanna's consistently excellent vocals and a lush string arrangement that recalls the work of Etta James. "This whiskey got me feeling pretty, so pardon if I'm impolite," we hear, before the eight-time Grammy winner nails a series of gorgeous high notes.
The new tease of "Higher," in addition to the stripped down McCartney-isms on "FourFiveSeconds" seem to indicate that R8 will be taking Rihanna in a decidedly stripped-down, throwback direction. Whatever the future may hold, it's guaranteed to be a good one. Listen to both clips below.
