Watch Rihanna Strut In New Super Bowl 2023 Teaser
Rihanna nods to her long-awaited return in new teaser for the upcoming Super Bowl LVII halftime performance in February.
We've waited for her, but Rihanna is almost here. On Friday (January 13), the music icon and entrepreneurial maven released a first look teaser to her long-awaited Super Bowl LVII halftime performance. The 2023 Super Bowl will be played at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona on Sunday, February 12.
Stepping into the spotlight in the 30-second teaser, Rihanna walks forward while commentary about her whereabouts plays.
"Dude, Rihanna, we've waited for you," says one voice. Another adds, "It's been six years since the nine-time Grammy-winner dropped an album."
"Rihanna is a generational talent, a woman of humble beginnings who has surpassed expectations at every turn. A person born on the small island of Barbados who became one of the most prominent artists ever. Self-made in business and entertainment," said rapper and Roc Nation founder JAY-Z, who previously signed a deal with the NFL to lead the league's musical entertainment.
Rihanna, who last released single "Lift Me Up" for the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack in October, told Entertainment Tonight in November that agreeing to perform during the 2023 Super Bowl came as a surprise to her.
“I can’t believe I even said yes. It was one of those things that even when I announced it, I was like, ‘OK, I can’t take it back. Now it’s like, final," she said. The nine-time Grammy Award-winner added that the halftime show is “one of the biggest stages in the world."
“But it’s nerve-racking,” she contined. “You want to get it right. Everybody’s watching. And they’re rooting for you. And I want to get it right.”
