Video Premiere : Robert Glasper Experiment & Common - "I Stand Alone" (feat. Patrick Stump)
Roughly this time last year, we were all teeming with excitement for the arrival of The Robert Glasper Experiment's sequel to the brilliant neo-soul deconstruction/revival that was Black Radio. One of its strongest and most poignant singles landed in the form of "I Stand Alone;" an uplifting number drenched in Glasper's electric swagger, Common's patented lyrical athleticism and a heavy hook from unusual suspect Patrick Stump (of Fall Out Boy).
Just when 2014 felt like it might be a quiet year for the kinetic keys player -- messing around with Taylor McFerrinand remixing hard-nosed blues joints for Gary Clark Jr -- RG put out the call for some supporting talent in the clip for his genre-melting collaboration with the Chi-town hero. OKP is proud to premiere the official video, which strings together studio shots that bring you into the booth and behind the board. But just when you think the credits are about to roll, Lupe Fiasco, Just Blaze, Dave Chappelle, Ma Dukes, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Don Cheadle and more of their homies phone in to let Glasper and Com know that even though they stand alone, they all stand together. Head down to watch the triumphant new video for Robert Glasper and Common's "I Stand Alone" and be sure to grab your copy of the star-lined Black Radio 2 LP on iTunes,if you've yet to do so.
