Robert Glasper and his band The Experiment just released their new album ArtScience on Friday, but the pianist also revealed another exciting project in the works.
In an interview with Complex, Glasper revealed that he is forming a group with multi-instrumentalist/producer Terrace Martin and singer/songwriter James Fauntleroy.
"Me, James Fauntleroy, and Terrace are starting a group. We’re going to do a little record or an EP, something like that," Glasper said. "We’ve loosely started the Fauntleroy/Glasper/Terrace thing, just little ideas. Terrace said, “we should start a group!” and I said, “I can be down with that, totally.”
He kept the details mum besides that, but the collaboration isn't totally out of nowhere. Martin pegged Glasper and Fauntleroy for his album 3ChordFold: they both appeared on the first single "No Wrong No Right," and Glasper played on the album closer "Gone." Martin also called Glasper to join the musical team of Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp A Butterfly.
Fauntleroy has also proven his writing and vocal chops, lending his pen to the likes of Justin Timberlake and Rihanna, and appearing on songs with Kanye West, Common, Jay Z and others.
Glasper, Martin and Fauntleroy definitely have proven themselves separately and shown chemistry together, so this untitled album should definitely be something to look forward to.
