Robin S. Thanks Beyoncé for Sampling Her 1993 Song "Show Me Love" on "Break My Soul"
House music legend Robin S. says she's "honored" that her 1993 single "Show Me Love" was sampled on Beyoncé's latest hit "Break My Soul."
Robin S. is getting her flowers. While appearing on Good Morning Britain the house music legend was "honored and excited" that her 1993 classic "Show Me Love" was sampled on Beyoncé's new single "Break My Soul." The song will appear on Beyoncé's new album Renaissance, which releases on July 29.
“This is Robin S, and this message goes out to the Queen Bey herself, Beyoncé, to Jay-Z, to the entire team,” Robin said during her interview. “Thank you so much for giving me my flowers while I’m still alive. I am honored, and I’m excited to see what else can happen.”
The singer then explained that it was her son who informed her that the song was sampled in "Break My Soul."
“My son called me and he’s like, ‘Mom, mom. You’re trending all over the place,’” Robin told Good Morning Britain. “You know, Beyoncé put her song out and it’s ‘Show Me Love’, and you’re trending everywhere.’”
Also in the interview, Robin expressed interest in one day collaborating with Queen Bey.
"Maybe we can do a collab together? You know, that's always the dream," she said. "I can't even. Just wow. A lot of thanks."
Also sampled on "Break My Soul" is New Orleans bounce legend Big Freedia who went to social media on Tuesday (June 20) to share their gratitude for being a part of "this special moment."
"Break My Soul" was co-written by Beyoncé, The-Dream, Christopher Alan "Tricky" Stewart, JAY-Z, Adam Pigott and Freddie Ross, along with "Show Me Love" co-writers Allen George and Fred McFarlane.
