Ronald Bruner Jr. Announces Debut Album w/ Thundercat, George Duke & More
Ronald Bruner Jr. has released the first single from his forthcoming debut album.
Titled "Take The Time," the almost five minute track features the Grammy-winning drummer playing alongside brother Stephen "Thundercat" Bruner.
"Take The Time" comes from the elder Bruner's album Triumph, which is expected to drop on March 3. Made in collaboration between Jr., Thundercat and fellow brother Jameel Bruner (originally a part of the Internet), Triumph features 11 tracks and appearances from Kamasi Washington, George Duke, Mac Miller and Danielle Withers.
According to the SoundCloud page for "Take The Time," Triumph is a "direct result of working with century defining artists such as Stanley Clarke, Kendrick Lamar, Flying Lotus, Wayne Shorter, Prince, Chaka Khan, Q-Tip, Kenny Garrett and Stevie Wonder," while lyrically exploring "the deepest extensions of the heart, the restraints of human connection and the dynamic free for all of growing through this world."
The album was made during the sessions that produced Kamasi's The Epic.
Thundercat is also prepping for a release of his own some time in the foreseeable future. Last year he shared the track "Bus In These Streets," which was supposed to serve as an appetizer from the bass virtuoso's album expected to drop before the end of last year (according to Flying Lotus), but the release never came to fruition. At the very least Thundercat is embarking on a world tour this year that begins in San Francisco in February, and ends in Belgium in April.
