Ryan Leslie Drops The 'Black Mozart' Documentary
July 29, 2013
Ryan Leslie drops the long-awaited Black Mozart documentary - a short film that follows the musical everyman from the steps of a courthouse at the closure of a lawsuit surrounding his stolen laptop to Vienna, Austria where he works on the record that will ultimately bear the same name as the film. Leslie screened the film about the making of the album in Paris for a gathering of friends in February. The 25-minute film is now available in its entirety for the viewing public. Ryan Leslie described the footage detailing his creative process and time spent in Vienna:
“Black Mozart starts at the moment that I walk out of the courthouse. I wrote the entire album in the two days following the verdict, so the album is written and will be recorded in layers with the strings, horns and potentially a choir in the royal conservatory in Vienna, Austria, one of the homes of some of the most classical music ever written.”
