Sebastian Mikael Sets the Tone in New "Vibe" Video [PREMIERE]
Sebastian Mikael just dropped his latest visual for the song "Vibe."
The Ethiopian contemporary R&B singer has a retro yet refreshing sound. On, "Vibe" — the single off the musician's debut EP, I C U U C ME Part I — Mikael sings with brevity and depth in stacatto falsetto reminiscent of D'Angelo.
With the song's libidinous lyrics and dark, loungy video to match— his luminary legend of a predecessor would probably approve.
"Mistaking lust for love— we all do it," Mikael told Okayplayer while speaking on the inspiration behind the track. "Love is pure and unconditional. Lust is an infatuation, strong emotions built up but emotions are fickle. Lust is like a drug, it’ll have [your] priorities all screwed up and you’ll end up doing something stupid that you’ll later regret."
He continues, "Once these feelings enter your mind, it can trick you into thinking that what you’re feeling is love, but 'Vibe' exposes the lust."
Mikael released the six-track EP, I C U U C ME PART I in December 2018 via Slip-N-Slide Records and Atlantic Records. Part II is slated to drop early this year.
