OKP Premiere: Sly5thAve x ClubCasa Chamber Orchestra - "The First 8 Minutes" (ATCQ 'Find A Way' Tribute)
Sly5thAve and the ClubCasa Chamber Orchestra have joined forces to pay tribute to A Tribe Called Quest with a rework of their 1998 track "Find A Way" from The Love Movement LP entitled "The First 8 Minutes" (ATCQ "Find A Way" Tribute). Their interpretation of the J Dilla production is a dynamic take packed with peaks, valleys and bright bursts of light.
Effectively picking up where Miguel Atwood-Ferguson and Mochilla's Timeless: Suite For Ma Dukes left off, the "The First 8 Minutes" is a sonic journey that takes the ear through a few eras in modern music before settling into the boom-bap close to the 4-minute mark. In this take, Sly5thAve and CCCO polish the original gem to reveal all of the beauty and possibility that lies at the core of every hip-hop classic with an emotionally dense arrangement that retains the head-nodding rhythm and sick sample groove.
"The First 8 Minutes" arrives in just enough time to prep fans for the live performance from Sy5thAve and CCCO this Friday, December 19th in Manhattan at Meridian 23 for Roots + Soul presented by DJ Center with special guest DJ Spinna.
