Those of you who attended this past weekend's FYF Festival caught something of a reconciliation. After a well-publicized falling out, Solange and Dev Hynes reunited for the first time in years on one stage, performing some fan favorites from their collaborative repertoire. But perhaps most enticing and certainly most timely, was a heart-crushing rendition of the Nina Simone classic "To Be Young Gifted And Black" with fellow Saint Heron master vocalist Moses Sumney backing the arrangement. Well dear friends, today we have an intimate glimpse at the preparations for that outing: a dimly-lit rehearsal clip of the heavenly trio prepping themselves for that moment.
So Let it be known that the power of music squashes all beef, no matter of what sort. Watch Solange, Dev Hynes and Moses Sumney perform that gem of a Nina Simone composition below and keep your eyes on us for what could be the resurgence of the powerful Knowles/Hynes team.
“It was a really special and spiritual moment of solidarity and pride, in celebrating our blackness. I was so grateful to share that with such beautiful like minded artist.” - Solange
