OKP News: Solange Knowles EP Details Announced [Art + Tracklist]
We have love for the Knowles family--but especially Solange. It's not because we love the underdog (we do) but because, as a former OKP writer, she is considered practically family around here (What up, cousin). We recently posted her newest single, "Losing You," with hopes that it was indication of more to come. Admittedly, we were feeling withdrawal symptoms for the artist who hadn't hit us with anything since her 2008 sophomore album, Sol-Angel and the Hadley Street Dreams. Well, as it turns out, "Losing You" is only one of seven songs to appear on her upcoming EP, True. Details on True come to us by way of a listening party held earlier this week in NYC, which was graced by her hyper-celebrity sibling Beyoncé Knowles and husband Jay-Z. The EP is slated for a November 27 digital release through Terrible Records (run by Chris Taylor of Grizzly Bear). Judging by the growth we've seen in Solange's artistry over the last decade and what we know about True, the EP will be everything but terrible. Based on the sound of "Losing You," and raunchy titles like "Some Things Never Seem to F**king Work" and "Lovers in the Parking Lot" we expect hot things. If the tracklist (after the jump) and the sultry red cover art aren't captivating enough for you, consider the songwriting credits featuring Blood Orange's Dev Hynes, Ariel Reichstadt, and more.
