'Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse' Has Been Pushed to Next June

Originally dated for October 7th of this year, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has been pushed to release on June 2nd, 2023.

Bad news in the Spider-Verse. Originally slated to released on October 7th of this year, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has been pushed to June 2nd, 2023.

While Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Animations have not announced why the sequel to 2018's Into the Spider-Verse has a new release date, Across the Spider-Verse writer and producer Christopher Miller tweeted about the delay.

The original title of the sequel has also been abbreviated, as "Part One" has been removed from the title. According to Variety, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Part II has been announced as a "threequel," releasing on March 24, 2024. The film will also be closely released alongside fellow Spider-Man feature, Madame Web, which will debut next July.

Released in 2018, the first Spider-Verse installment was lauded for its animation and storyline, winning the film Best Animated Feature at the 91st Academy Awards. Against a production budget of $90 million, the film grossed $375.5 million worldwide. Last year, Issa Rae was announced as an addition to the Spider-Verse, voicing Jessica Drew in the upcoming sequel.

In a recent interview with UPROXX, Morbius director Daniel Espinosa hinted that Miles Morales from the Spiderverse empire may join the MCU.

"I think that Miles Morales that you have in Spider-Verse, I would bet your life on that you would have Miles Morales from the Spider-Verse in the Marvel Cinematic Universe at some point," he said.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse swings into theaters on June 2nd, 2023.
