Spike Lee's Holding An Open Casting Call For 'She's Gotta Have It' Netflix Series
There may not be a hotter piece of forthcoming Netflix property than the series adaptation of Spike Lee's full-length feature debut, She's Gotta Have It. The 1986 film marked Spike's very first joint, filmed in Bed Stuy on a $175,000 budget. In the thirty years since its release, the film has reached cult classic levels of adoration and seems poised to gain a new legion of fans with its Netflix revival.
What's more, Spike Lee has announced that the casting company for the show (Barbara McNamara) is holding an open call for actors on Monday, October 3rd, right here in his beloved Republic of Brooklyn. He took to Facebook to make the announcement, laying out all detail in who/what/where/when fashion. One role that doesn't appear to be on the table is that of Spike's iconic Mars Blackman character, as Hamilton star, Anthony Ramos, appears to have landed it already. The series has yet to reveal a production schedule or premiere date, but we imagine that's just a matter of time now.
Peep the information for the open casting call down below and if you think you've got what it takes, we'd suggest getting their nice and early.
