Steve Lacy's "Some" is a Pre-Cuffing Season Jam
UPDATE: Steve Lacy has also dropped a music video for "Some," which finds him taking a rather poignant spin on John Cusack in Say Anything. Just watch until the end — you will see what we mean. "Some" is the first single from a forthcoming project of Lacy's called Steve Lacy's Demo.
The Internet's very own Steve Lacy dropped a new track earlier today that is silky smooth.
Titled "Some," Lacy sings about wanting the love of someone over groovy guitar strums and upbeat drums.
"I know there's lots of love in your heart, but who you gonna give it to," croons Lacy longingly before telling the unknown lover in question, "We can do whatever you wanna do."
If this is a taste of what's to come from the guitarist's solo work then we're definitely excited. The last time Lacy dropped a solo cut was seven months ago with "That's No Fun," a N.E.R.D-esque track that found the artist talking about the inevitability of change that occurs in one's life.
But with "Some" it sounds as if Lacy is coming into his own.
2016 has been a good year for Lacy. He made some contributions to Isaiah Rashad's latest album The Sun's Tirade, as well as contributed to Kali Uchis' "Only Girl."
He'll also be contributing to the debut solo project of fellow Internet member (and lead singer) Syd. The vocalist will be dropping her album Dive in the foreseeable future, a 14 track release that also features contributions from Nick Green, Hit-Boy and MeLo-X.
"This is my descent into the depth I want the band to get to. For me, this is like an in-between thing – maybe get a song on the radio, maybe make some money, have some new shit to perform," Syd told Fader in regards to the album.
The Internet also plan on releasing the follow up to their well received, Grammy nominated Ego Death some time in spring 2017, with writing and recording for the album having begun last month.
But hopefully Lacy continues to drop some more tracks until then. Take a listen of "Some" for yourself, below.
