A day after the announcement was made, SZA went to her Instagram and wrote a passionate statement describing how she got to this point.
In the statement, SZA describes the insecurities around the making of her landmarkalbum, CTRL. At one point she said she was crying on the phone with TDE CEO Punch, begging him to not put out the album.
Here is a piece of what she wrote:
"I remember feeling like damn, maybe I suck. Maybe I should try something else? Maybe Im just wasting space. Lifes weird...I didnt have any friends growing up. Never gave my parents an opportunity to say, 'Wow my kids killing it.' Didnt graduate or do any fly shit before my Nana died. Been fired from every job I ever had."
