Talib Kweli - "Human Mic" [Official Video] Dir. R.A. The Rugged Man
Talib Kweli comes back out on some symphony hall-shit with the official video for "Human Mic," directed by none other than your favorite rapper/film reviewer/Long Island Representer R.A. The Rugged Man. With an outfit befitting a rap maestro--tux, conductor's baton, stunner shades and a snapback that reads "I Am The Greatest" Kweli demonstrates yet again why the opposite of conscious is asleep and he is wide awoke. The video pretty much illustrates the concept in a way that doesn't need any explication from me but I would just like to reiterate that we were there when this happened. We were factually standing in the auditorium at the Brooklyn Music School ducking roses while Kweli was waving his baton at the assembled massive and receiving an actual honorary degree from the BK institution (true story). We were also there when Kweli rapped to the world through the actual, factual "Human Mic" created by the #Occupy protesters--the moment that provided this track with it's name and can be heard on the intro to his album Prisoner Of Conscious. Okayplayer TV: we are places. Watch below, plus the exclusive behind the scenes from the set of the video and the human mic moment in in Zucotti Park. Prisoner of Conscious is out now--purchase it here (via iTunes).
