You have to love the radio sometimes. When they're not overplaying the latest hits, they either have a hot topic or a hot heat for your favorite artist to speak on. Both scenarios are entertaining, making for some dynamic conversation that can range in tone - from heated to hilarious - and energy. Rickey Smiley recently had a hot seat and some hot topics for Talib Kweli on The Rickey Smiley Morning Show. After quickly alluding to his upcoming album, Prisoner of Conscious (which drops sometime in February), Rickey got the conversation started with Obama's reelection. Not before the Blackstar dropped political knowledge, calling Mitt Romney a "non-opponent," did talk-show host Rickey Smiley move on to probing Kweli's views on marriage. No novice to master-manipulation, he started the conversation by joking, "You're like a pro-supporter of polygamy!" To which Kweli responded, "Who said that!?" Of course, Smiley was referring to an earlier interview Talib had with Charlamagne The God on The Breakfast Club, where he said polygamy in the US is tough because "people dont have that mentality to even think of anything outside of what traditional marriage has been." While Talib doesn't explicitly tell Rickey Smiley that he supports polygamy he says "I'm a fan of honesty." He goes on to say that if two people can trust one another in a polygamous relationship, then it's right for those two people. When asked if he holds women to the same standards as men Kweli defends his "conscious" title, claiming that women who desire multiple men should and can have them -- as long as the trust is there. His general summary about polygamy, though: "People's feelings get involved. We are human beings, you know, so it's difficult." After the quick conversation, Rickey Smiley breaks listeners off with "Outstanding" featuring Ryan Leslie, a single from Talib's upcoming album. Be amused:
