"The MCU Is Jonathan Majors' Franchise Now:" Here are the Early Reactions to 'Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania'
Critics are praising Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, the introduction to Phase Five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The social embargo has lifted on new Marvel Studios film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and fans are calling it the perfect introduction to the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase Five. On Monday (February 6), the Ant-Man world premiere was held at Los Angeles' Regency Westwood Theatre, where new franchise star, Jonathan Majors, stole the show with his portrayal as supervillain Kang the Conqueror.
In a red carpet interview with PA Media via Yahoo! News, Majors was asked what drew him to playing Kang.
“I believe quite deeply that we contain multitudes, that the human being, the homosapien, is probably the greatest invention that will ever be," he said.
Majors continued, “There’s no AI, there’s nothing that can top us, and with Kang there is this idea of variance, this idea of living multiple lifetimes, and there’s a lot of dream fulfillment in that.
It appears that Majors' arrival to the MCU resonated with critics, including Brian Davids of The Hollywood Reporter, who tweeted, "Like all his other roles, Jonathan Majors remains endlessly compelling."
Dempsey Pilot, editor-in-chief of The DisInsider agreed, tweeting that "Jonathan Majors effortlessly conquers every second of screen-time he gets," also acknowledging lead Paul Rudd and screenwriter Jeff Loveness.
Rudd (Scott Lang/Ant-Man) and Majors are joined by Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne/Wasp, with Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer reprising their roles as Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne. Kathryn Newton also joins the cast as Lang’s daughter, Cassie.
Here's the synopsis: Ant-Man and the Wasp find themselves exploring the Quantum Realm, interacting with strange new creatures and embarking on an adventure that pushes them beyond the limits of what they thought was possible.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania comes to theatres on February 13.
