"'240 lbs. Black Man stomps out Hollywood Honcho' would be the headline the next day" Crews Said.

In a series of tweets to his 617k followers, Crews detailed the incident that took place at a Hollywood function last year. He opens the thread saying "This whole thing with Harvey Weinstein is giving me PTSD. Why? Because this kind of thing happened to ME." The actor goes on to detail the incident which took place in public and in the presence of his wife and explains he didn't retaliate because he knew he would be villainized in the headlines. Using the timeline thread as a teachable moment, Crews goes on to explain why many victims of sexual abuse do not come forward and simply 'let it go' like he did when the predator has 'power and influence.'
The words from Crews come at an important time as the voices of women are frequently drowned out until they come in collective droves, and even then their authenticity is questioned. Crews speaking up on the issue illustrates this as an industry-wide issue across gender lines and not an isolated incident.
