'The Flash' Trailer Reintroduces Michael Keaton As Batman

The newest trailer for forthcoming DC Studios film The Flash premiered during Super Bowl LVII, starring Ezra Miller and Michael Keaton.

30 years later, Michael Keaton returns as Batman in forthcoming DC Studios film, The Flash. During the Super Bowl LVII on Sunday (February 12), the action-packed epic – starring Ezra Miller as the titular superhero – premiered, also revealing 71-year-old Keaton as the Caped Crusader. The Dopesick actor last played Batman in 1992's Batman Returns.

“You can go anywhere. Another timeline, another universe. So why do you want to stay and fight to save this one?" Keaton's voice can be heard saying in the opening of The Flash trailer.

“Because this is the one where my mom lives,” Miller replies.

The summer flick is loosely based on comic book series and animated film, The Flashpoint Paradox, where the superhero causes a temporal ripple, creating a fractured reality.

"Worlds collide in The Flash when Barry uses his superpowers to travel back in time in order to change the events of the past. But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation," a press release for the 2023 film states.

It continues, "Unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian... albeit not the one he's looking for. Ultimately, to save the world that he is in and return to the future that he knows, Barry's only hope is to race for his life."

Also appearing as a multiverse version of Batman is Ben Affleck in The Flash, which is directed by Andy Muschietti. Miller returns as protagonist Barry Allen, after a slew of public controversies in 2022.

The Flash makes its theatrical debut on June 16, 2023.
