The Listening: New Music From Snoop Dogg, The Lox, Skyzoo and More
New music Friday releases include the final posthumous album from Juice WRLD and a new compilation from Jhene Aiko.
Give thanks to the new music that dropped this week.
Although a bit slower of a release week because of Thanksgiving (and nothing being able to top the surprise Kendrick Lamar album from last week), this week still had some notable releases.
For songs, we had the return of The Lox, which hopefully hints at a full-length release at some point. We also have the latest single from Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre’shighly-anticipatedMissionary album.
As for albums, we have the last posthumous full-length from the late Juice WRLD, as well as Skyzoo’s latest album, which features a notable appearance from the legendary Public Enemy MC Chuck D.
Overall, not a bad way to wrap up this month’s string of releases.
Each week, Okayplayer will deliver a roundup of all the latest new heat from some of our favorite artists. Check out the latest offerings below.
NEW SONGS
EST GEE, “THE STREETS”
The Louisville rapper drops his second single from his forthcoming album.
SNOOP DOGG AND DR. DRE FEAT. STING, “ANOTHER PART OF ME”
Although the Sting feature just seems to be a sample from the band he used to lead, the legendary Police, it’s still pretty interesting to hear Snoop rap over the group’s classic “Message in a Bottle.”
THE LOX, “ISLEY MONEY”
Over a Vinny Idol beat crafted around an Isley Brothers track, The Lox make a return that hopefully signals that more new music is on the way.
FAT JOE AND BABYFACE, “I GOT YOU”
Fat Joe teams up with the legendary Babyface for a smooth, downtempo cut.
POLO G, “NO MORE HEROES”
Polo G’s latest release is a somber and reflective tune that also happens to include one of the best subtle brags we’ve heard in a while: “I just hummed on the beat, then I rock the stage.”
NEW ALBUMS
JUICE WRLD, ‘The Party Never Ends’
The late rapper’s final posthumous album includes appearances by Eminem, Benny Blanco, Offset and Fall Out Boy.
NAPPY ROOTS, ‘The Brew Day' EP
The EP is a compilation of songs the group released earlier this year.
SKYZOO, ‘Keep Me Company’
Skyzoo’s new album is a 13-track release that features the revered Chuck D on one of the songs.
JHENE AIKO, ‘The Magic Hour Collection’
The collection is a compilation of Aiko’s most popular and well-known songs, including “The Worst,” “None of Your Concern,” “Blue Dream” and more.
