The Roots, Billie Holiday & More To Be Honored On Philadelphia Music Walk Of Fame

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

There's a new class of honorees headed to Philadelphia's Music Walk of Fame, and the mighty Roots crew seem to have finally earned their spot. It may be a particularly meaningful moment for Questlove, however, as he'll join his father Lee Andrews on the hometown walk that also houses names like Nina Simone, John Coltrane, Chubby Checker, Dizzy Gilespie, Grover Washington Jr., The Stylistics and so many more luminaries of every corner of the spectrum that have enriched and celebrated Philly's legacy of musical excellence.

The Illa Fifth will be inducted on October 26th at a lavish gala at Philly's fresh Fillmore venue along with jazz legend Billie Holiday, purveyors of "Disco Inferno" The Trammps, Broadway's Andrea McArdleand WOGL personality Harvey Holiday. So here's a hearty congratulations to the group that transcended the game by being the modern-day embodiment of James Brown's hardest-working-band-in-show-business ethos and changed late-night TV forever. The performers and host of the event have yet to be revealed, but you can be sure we'll have more details for you as they arise in the months to come.
