Watch Thundercat Perform At A Roller Disco For Boiler Room
What does it say about Thundercat that upon finding out that his latest Boiler Room live performance was shot from a rotating stage in the middle of a neon roller disco, we're left thinking "Well, that sounds about right." One might wonder "Is this safe? Is he getting busy, playing bass as the room spins by?" Well, if #PizzaRat can make it in this world, then dammit so can Thundercat.
Backed by Dennis Hamm and Justin Brown, the bass virtuoso tears through what's come to be a fairly familiar setlist as of late--one loaded with cuts from his excellent new The Beyond / Where the Giants Roam mini-album, along with old(er) favorites like "Tron Song" and "Heartbreaks and Setbacks," plus bits of Kendrick Lamar's TPAB cut "Complexion," which he played a crucial role in writing and recording. Tundercat is, as always, right on point with wild improvisational soloing and more bass auto-wah than you could ever hope to scoop up with a spatula. Watch the full live performance below, and check out their current live tour itinerary after the jump. The room is spinnin, and Thundercat is winning.
