Grammy-nominated rapper Tierra Whack has been arrested for bringing a loaded firearm to the Philadelphia International Airport, according to WPVI-TV. The Whack World artist was charged with disorderly conduct for bringing the loaded weapon to the Philadelphia Airport, although she's licensed to carry.
Whack was last featured on The Roots' newest single "Misunderstood," which also features Erykah Badu. In 2018, the rapper released her debut LP Whack World, later dropping a trilogy of EPs entitled Rap?, Pop?, and R&B?.
Whack, who's from North Philadelphia, spoke to The Philadelphia Tribune in 2019 about her Philly origins and admiring local acts who went on to receive mainstream success.
“When I first started, I did my research,” she said at the time. “If I want to be a rapper or artist, I gotta know who came before me and what was going on. I looked up Jill Scott, Black Thought and State Property. I knew everybody. Today, I get to meet them all and be like, ‘Yo, if it wasn’t for you guys, I wouldn’t be here.’ They paved the way. They made it easier for me.”
In 2020, Whack appeared in Beyoncé's Disney+ visual album Black Is King, as part of the "My Power" segment. In a May interview with The Cut, Whack shared that she hopes to collaborate with other prominent artists and celebrities.
"André 3000, the top of the list. I want to work with Kanye, Dolly Parton," she said. "It doesn’t have to be music. I love Jim Carrey. I don’t even know what we’d do. Dave Chappelle. I want to keep working, touching different avenues, exploring and trying new things. There’s no specifics; I just want to be ready to try anything that comes my way."
