Toro y Moi and Eric Andre Go On a Joyride in New Short Film
To coincide with the release of new Toro y Moi album Mahal, the musician has teamed up with Eric Andre for short film Goes by So Fast.
Toro y Moi and Eric Andre take a wild ride in new short film Goes by So Fast. As a companion project to Toro's new album Mahal, the Harry Israelson-directed will premiere at a Brain Dead Studios on April 22nd in Los Angeles. Under his moniker Chaz Bear, Toro will also DJ during the premiere, while behind-the-scenes footage of the film will also debut.
In the psychedelic trailer for Goes by So Fast, Eric and Toro embark on a journey in their 'Mahal'-themed Jeepney, based on the popular form of transportation in the Philippines, where the latter's parents are from.
“Chaz, you’re my co-pilot. You always have been and always will be,” Eric says in the trailer while he's at the wheel.
As creative director for Primary Colors Studios, Israelson is also a longtime collaborator of Toro, directing his previous music videos for "You and I", "Say That" and "Freelance."
In a recent interview with NME, Toro spoke about writing his new album during the COVID pandemic. “You can assume that every artist is probably going to write about COVID; but I didn’t want ‘Mahal’ to remind you of dark times. I had a lot of time to really come up with a plan and think of something fun and smart for this rollout.”
