Trevor Noah Says Kanye West Shouldn't Be Cancelled
Trevor Noah has denied asking The Recording Academy to ban Kanye West from performing at the upcoming 64th Annual Grammy Awards.
Kanye West has been suspended from performing at the upcoming Grammy Awards after using racial slurs directed towards Trevor Noah on Instagram. However, Noah issued a tweet on Sunday responding to news of the Grammy ban, stating that he "said counsel Kanye not cancel Kanye."
A representative for Ye has alleged that being barred from performing at the ceremony comes from his "concerning online behavior", considering that the rapper-producer aimed at Noah last week on Instagram, replacing the lyrics to spiritual “Kumbaya” with a racial slur as a caption. Following the post, the 44-year-old was suspended from the platform for 24 hours, flagged for hate speech, harassment and bullying.
The post came after Noah addressed Ye’s marriage to Kim Kardashian during a segment The Daily Show last Tuesday.
