Trump Administration Says Harriet Tubman May Not Be On $20 Bill Anymore
Harriet Tubman might not replace Andrew Jackson on the $20 bill after all.
More than a year after former Treasury Secretary Jack Lew said that the famed abolitionist and activist would replace the seventh U.S. president on the $20 bill, Lew's successor, Steve Mnuchin, has backpedaled on the change.
"Ultimately we will be looking at this issue," Mnuchin said in a CNBC interview. "It's not something I'm focused on at the moment."

Mnuchin then added that "the issues of why we change it will be primarily related to what we need to do for security purposes."
Under Lew's plan, the $20 bill would have featured Tubman on the front and Jackson on the back, with the process taking several years to complete. However, that does not seem to be the case for now. During an interview with NBC last year, Donald Trump spoke about the idea to replace Jackson with Tubman on the $20 bill, saying that she was "fantastic" while also adding that her inclusion on the currency was an example of "political correctness."
"Well, Andrew Jackson had a great history, and I think it's very rough when you take somebody off the bill," Trump said. "I think Harriet Tubman is fantastic, but I would love to leave Andrew Jackson or see if we can maybe come up with another denomination."
