Tupac's Brother Blasts Trump Campaign for Trolling Kamala Harris
"We should know Trump's lack of respect for the Black and brown community."
Mopreme Shakur, step-brother of the late Tupac, was not impressed by the Trump campaign's attempt at trollingKamala Harris during the VP debate this week.
According to TMZ, the Shakur family considered it "clearly disrespectful" when the campaign left a seat for the deceased rapper at the debate. "We should know Trump's lack of respect for the Black and brown community," Mopreme told TMZ, insisting the White House commute the sentence of Tupac's stepfather, Mutulu, if they had any intention of actually making it up to the Shakur family.
In 1988, Mutulu was sentenced to 60 years in prison for armed bank robbery, RICO conspiracy, and killings associated with the robbery. Mopreme claims his father has taken full accountability for the offenses in the years since, working within the prison system as an advocate for anti-violence initiatives. Despite Mutulu's efforts, he's been denied parole eight times over the last 30-plus years.
Regarding the Kamala flub that inspired the debate stunt, Mopreme isn't holding on to any hard feelings. Rather, he takes it as a testament to the Senator's taste in music and an homage to her Oakland roots.
Kamala's Tupac fandom has been on full display, yet still questionable, since she claimed to listen to the rapper's music while smoking weed in college during an interview with The Breakfast Club. The claim was quickly debunked when it became clear that Harris attended college several years before Tupac's solo career had even begun.
Wednesday's debate took place without any real setbacks and turned out to be an actual debate, as opposed to the first (and potentially lone,) debate between Trump and Biden the week prior.
