Tuxedo Delves Into Claymation In Their Video For "The Right Time (Kaytranada Remix)"
One of the clear front-runners for sleeper track of 2015 is Kaytranada's remix of Tuxedo's "The Right Time," a thumping funk flip that features contributions from Canadian punk-jazz trio Badbadnotgood. It's smooth despite chopping snares and hooky despite it's cool confident nature--a perfect remix that proves itself to be stronger than the original even before the second hook comes around. Yes, we mean that.
Now, a brand new video for the remix has been released by Tuxedo, and it features an impressive amount of play-doh. In all serious, it's some very high-end claymation, one that tells the tale of a swaying cardboard cities, crystal balls and a interstellar rocketships flying through the far reaches of the galaxy. Mayer Hawthorne and Jake One appear as hand-sculpted clay space pilots, and we soon find out that a strange nefarious wasabi-green...being...is on the loose. Both funkateers are consumed by the wasabi green wormhole, but ultimately make it out to groove another day, donning tiny helmets and leaving their spacecraft for the outside world. Was that Kaytranada in the glowing orb the entire time? Is it possible to decipher any of this? It's hard to say, but the groove is one thing that's certified solid.
