UGK & Outkast To Release 'Int'l Players Anthem' On Texas Shaped Vinyl
Texas, stand up: a texas shaped vinyl of UGK and Outkast's incredible collaboration "Int'l Players Anthem (I Choose You)" is dropping before the year is over.
As a part of Get On Down's Record Store Day Black Friday releases, the imprint will be releasing the very special edition vinyl of the popular single, alongside reissues such as Jungle Brothers' Done By The Forces Of Nature, and a vinyl reissue of the third volume of James Brown's Funky People series. Not only will the record be shaped like the state of Texas, but the Texas flag is printed on it too. It'll also include the actual track and an instrumental version of it too (you know, just in case you want to create an "Int'l Players Anthem" of your own).
The DJ Paul and Juicy J produced track can be purchased only in store on Black Friday (here is a list of participating record stores), on November 25.
"Int'l Players Anthem" is arguably one of the most well known rap songs of all time, and may arguably be the soundtrack to Andre 3000's "The south got something to say" statement, made at the 1995 Source Awards.
The pairing inevitably created history with UGK and Outkast creating the track, which was accompanied by a memorable music video. In the video Andre 3000 is about to get married and give up his life as a player, as his friends (Bun B and DJ Paul) ridicule him for supposedly rushing to get married (as well as his fashion choice for the special day).
Ultimately, the wedding ends up being a success, although a few fights between Andre's past flings results in the wedding cake and most of the buffet being destroyed.
Check out images of the vinyl below (as well as the video because it's Thursday) and remember, this special collectible item drops on November 25.
