Video: John Legend x Marvin Gaye "What's Goin' On" + Surprise Rehearsal w/ Kennedy Center Kids
This past Tuesday John Legend rolled up on a bunch of Duke Ellington HS kids rehearsing for a Marvin Gaye tribute at the Kennedy Center and jumped in for a collaborative choral version of "What's Goin' On." It's all part of the launch of a new program called "What's Goin' On...Now?"--a national youth campaign designed to inspire young people to share their art and expression by talking about how things have changed since Marvin’s classic album “What’s Going On” was released. You can find out more at www.whatsgoingonnow.org --including a live performance of the album happening at the Kennedy Center on May 3rd-4th, featuring Legend, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings and the National Symphony Orchestra, a commemoration of Marvin's 1972 performance for the Kennedy Center's very 1st season. For the moment, enjoy this clip of the rehearsal (above) and then see the results on stage at the tribute later that night (below).
