Video: The Roots + Kid Rock Honor The Beastie Boys At Rock 'n' Roll Hall Of Fame
The Roots, Kid Rock and Travie McCoy of Gym Class Heroes joined forces to perform a tribute to new inductees The Beastie Boys at the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland on Saturday. Beasties Mike D and Ad Rock were on hand to accept their award from Chuck D, (MCA was not able to attend) while the hastily-formed supergroup traded rhymes and bounced across the stage in matching green Adidas track suits, looking like they were having more fun than anybody has a right to at such a solemn occasion. Backstage ?uestlove shared memories of the impact the very first Beastie releases had on him--including his belief that they were Nuyoricans based on their style and slang before ever having laid eyes on them (below). In other RRHF highlights, Cleveland native Kid Cudi performed for at the accompanying free concert as well, and even brought his daughter Vada Mescudi out onstage to greet the hometown crowd (after the jump).
