Vince Staples On Donald Trump Election: "It Makes Sense"
Vince Staples recently served as a guest on radio show Power 106, and among the number of topics he discussed was the election of Donald Trump as the president of the United States.
As always, balancing humor with sardonic insight, the Long Beach rapper admitted that he was not too surprised by the election results.
"It makes sense," he said during the interview. "They vote, people vote. If you vote, and somebody wins, that's what it's set up for. It's fair."
Staples then goes to share how his grandmother knew Trump was going to win the presidency since Mother's Day.
"She said, 'You ni**as is crazy if you think that lady [Hillary Clinton] is going to win' — her exact sentence. [Clinton] had a lot of things going against her. I personally don't believe that any person is 100 percent good or 100 percent bad […] It is what it is. What you got to understand is that it says less about him and more about us; if you saying certain things, and people is agreeing with it, then I mean that's how they feel."
The interview does take a hilarious end however, when Staples is tasked with rapping the children's book Llama Llama Red Pajama over the beat for "Norf Norf."
In other recent news Staples and Eric Andreinterviewed each other about Jesus, the presidential election and a number of other topics for Complex.
When asked about how he views a Donald Trump America against a Hillary Clinton America, Staples responded:
"I don't care at all. I don’t know the difference from one president to the next. I know when we get a new black police chief. I know when the prison laws change. I know when they change the sentence you can get from gun charges. I know when [juvenile sentencing bill] SB-260 and [drone regulation bill] SB-262 pass. I don't fucking care who the president is. We can pretend that we’ve all been drastically affected by these things, but unless we're talking money, I don't really know what the fuck is different. It's first-world problems. "Oh, Donald Trump is stupid!"
