Vince Staples' 'Prima Donna' EP Is Now Streaming
Vince Staples' Prima Donna EP is officially dropping tomorrow (August 26), but the Long Beach rapper dropped by Zane Lowe's Beats 1 Radio show earlier today to play the project in its entirety.
Turns out Prima Donna is actually a seven song release (original reports were stating six) that features production from James Blake, No I.D. and DJ Dahi, and guest appearances from A$AP Rocky and Kilo Kish. Below you can listen to a track from the EP titled "Smile," which features Staples morosely singing "Smile for me" over a distorted guitar. The EP is streaming on Apple Music now.
You can also watch part of Staples' interview with Zane Lowe below, where the former discusses what fans demand from Frank Ocean.
"I don't know where we are at the point to where we can demand things, you know what I mean," Staples says. "Like 'Hey Frank Ocean put out this album on Friday 'cause you never said you were going to but we need it now, we don't like you anymore.' I don't know when we started demanding rapid fire from those kind of people."
He then adds: "You're not a person when you make music. You're a link — they just want to click it. 'It's not uploaded yet, f**k you. What happened, your mom died? Your car didn't start today? You're not in a good mood? Where's my song?'"
Staples is always one to say what's on his mind and this interview is no different. Along with the Prima Donna EP dropping tomorrow there's also supposed to be a short film accompanying it. The video was directed by Nabil (Kanye West, FKA Twigs, Frank Ocean) although it's unknown what exactly will be in it.
