Watch Ad-Rock Passionately Plea For Sanity In Brooklyn's Defaced Adam Yauch Park
Late last week it was reported that Adam Yauch Park, a children's playground in Dumbo, Brooklyn dedicated to the memory of the late Beastie Boys member, MCA, had been defaced and vandalized with swastikas; an extension of the spike in hate crimes and speech that've plagued safe spaces (schools, synagogues, mosques, parks and playgrounds) in the days since Donald Trump was elected as the least-qualified and most divisive president in our country's history.
In response, organizers hosted a rally at the park condemning the hate speech and warning perpetrators that acts of such transparent hatred would not be tolerated by this community or any other. Surviving Beastie Boy, Ad-Rock, made an appearance that vocalized those sentiments. Over a megaphone, Ad-Rock listed some of the latest acts of intolerance that have reared their head over the last few weeks alone, encouraging the crowd (and all of us) to fight Trump's hate with love and love alone, running down the list of causes that could use our donations and time.
Ad-Rock's speech was caught in full and can be viewed below. If you're short on inspiration this morning, we implore you to hit play and be served.
