Watch André 3000 In the Trailer for Upcoming A24 Film 'Showing Up'
Co-starring Michelle Williams, Hong Chau, Judd Hirsch and Maryann Plunkett, André 3000 will appear in upcoming A24 film Showing Up.
André 3000 is starring in his first A24 film. The member of legendary rap duo Outkast will appear in upcoming film Showing Up which debuted its official trailer on Thursday (December 16). Although the film does not have a theatrical release date, it first premiered at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival.
Wearing a shirt from Total Luxury Spa, André's character of Eric speaks to protagonist Lizzy Carr (played by Michelle Williams) about artwork from character Jo Tran (Hong Chau).
“I saw some of Jo’s work at a studio yesterday. Wow it just gives me such a lift. Pretty amazing,” André says during his brief appearance in the trailer.
Showing Up makes André 3000's second collaboration with A24, as he contributed four songs to the Everything Everywhere All At Once soundtrack, each song featuring the artist playing flute.
“Even though we knew from the moment Daniels asked us to score this film that it would push us in new and unexpected directions, we couldn’t have predicted how much we’d learn from the project," said Everything Everywhere All At Once producers Son Lux. What emerged was our most ambitious undertaking to date, over two years in the making, resulting in two hours of new music. It was an opportunity for us to play, to infuse humor into our work, and to experiment from and beyond our various musical backgrounds.”
André 3000, real name André Benjamin, will next appear in Netflix absurdist comedy-drama White Noise, which premieres on December 30.
