Watch Denzel Washington Reminisce About Old New York on the Latest Episode of 'Desus & Mero'
Denzel Washington guest-starred on the season four premiere of Desus & Mero, chatting with the Bodega Boys about all things New York.
Even with a new Oscar nomination under his belt, Denzel Washingtonstill has time for New York culture. On the season four premiere of Desus &Mero, the legendary actor spoke about growing up in Mount Vernon and the Bronx, his Oscar-nominated film The Tragedy of Macbeth and lessons he's learned throughout his career.
“One of the most important lessons in life that you should know is to remember to have an attitude of gratitude, of humility, understand where the gift comes from. “It’s not mine, it’s been given to me by the grace of God. Use what I have, use what you have, to help others,” he said.
While it appeared that Desus and Mero were slightly fangirling over Washington's presence, the actor left the show with a word that practically sums up his nearly five-decade long career: Blessed.
While The Tragedy of MacBeth is nominated for Best Production Design and Best Cinematography at the the 94th Academy Awards, Washington and Will Smith facing off in the Best Actor category. As Smith portrayed Richard Williams in 2021 film King Richard, the two actors were also nominated in 2001 for Best Actor. Washington was nominated and won for his portrayal of Alonzo Harris in Training Day going against Smith, who was nominated for his portrayal of Muhammad Ali in biopic Ali.
On Sunday, March 27, the 94th Academy Awards broadcast will air live at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on ABC.
