Watch Isaiah Rashad Cook Up a Fierce Freestyle with Kenny Beats on 'The Cave'
Isaiah Rashad delivers a loose, cadence-flipping performance in his appearance on the producer's hit Youtube series.
After nearly a year off the air, Kenny Beats welcomed Isaiah Rashad to the studio in the season three premiere of The Cave.
The session had all the trimmings of a pretty standard run with Kenny. As a good grip of weed gets burned, the producer stitches together a beat on the spot while the guest jots down a few bars for the booth. "Let’s do some indie mixed with some hip-hop mixed with a whole bunch of bass," the rapper asks of his host. And in quick order, Kenny presents a low-end-loaded instrumental as the backdrop to a loose but fierce cadence-flipping freestyle from the TDE rapper. After Rashad cuts his verse, Kenny pulls him out to marvel at the growth of their creative kinship. "Five years ago, we were in a different studio, before I had The Cave, I was playing beats for Zay and not one beat hit. Now we can make a song in 15 minutes. It's actually crazy," the producer noted.
Rashad's appearance on the show arrives in the build-up to his hotly-anticipated incoming album, The House is Burning. Set for release next month, the album is lead by two new songs Rashad. Last year, the Chattanooga rapper capped a feature-heavy 2020 with the release of his comeback single,"Why Worry." And earlier this month, Rashad followed up with the laidback album-announcing cut, "Lay Wit Ya," featuring Duke Duece. However, a firm date for The House is Burning had yet to be announced. The rapper's last project, The Sun's Tirade, was a stellar 2016 showing. It featured contributions from Kendrick Lamar, SZA, Jay Rock, SiR, and more.
