Watch Spike & Co. Take Flight in a High-Style Teaser for Netflix's Live-Action 'Cowboy Bebop' Series
Netflix shares the first official teaser for their highly-anticipated adaptation of the iconic anime series, Cowboy Bebop.
Exactly one month out from the premiere of Netflix's live-action run at Cowboy Bebop, we're finally getting a hard look at the show.
The streamer has released an official teaser for their adaptation of the iconic anime series. Finally showing off more than the opening credits, the preview gives us a good sense of the pacing and stylization of the show (both of which certainly rank on the higher end of their respective spectrums.) Titled The Lost Session, the clip follows Spike Spiegel & Co. as they set out to collect a bounty. The issue, of course, is that they can't seem to agree on who they're actually chasing (or what shape they should be returned in.) But guns are drawn, kicks are thrown, and noodles are (almost) eaten, as the trio literally pulls themselves in and out of frames.
The teaser is just the latest glimpse at the series, following the unveiling of the show's nearly identical recreation of the original anime's title scene scored by Yoko Kanno’s propulsive opening theme for the series (aka "Tank!".) According to John Cho (who portrays Spiegel in the series,) Kanno's participation was a crucial component of the show's production. "I didn’t think the show should go forward without her involvement," Cho said in an interview. Shinichirō Watanabe, the creator and director of the original show, is serving as a creative consultant on the series.
Watch the first teaser for Netflix's incoming Cowboy Bebop adaptation below. Hold tight for the show's premiere on November 19th. And if you're looking to run back the original series, you'll be able to stream all 27 episodes via Netflix as of October 21st. No word on whether Watanabe's 2001 Cowboy Bebop movie is also heading to the streamer.
