The Official (and Batshit Crazy) Trailer for HBO's 'Watchmen' Series is Finally Here
Thank you, Comic-Con.
Though it's been teased in fragments over the last year, our first real look at HBO's adaptation of the Watchmen graphic novel has finally arrived.
Courtesy of ongoing Comic-Con proceedings in San Diego, a full trailer for the series offers glimpses of the incoming chaos --meteors, misfits, Dr. Manhattan, and masks. Tons of masks. A brief synopsis of the show reveals that, much like the graphic novel and the butchered attempt at a big screen swing, the series centers on an alternate reality, in which vigilantes have been outlawed due to their violent, at times gruesome, peacekeeping tactics.
HBO's iteration is directed by Damon Lindelof(Lost and The Leftovers) and based on Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' award-winning 1986 novel of the same name. The show stars (an ass-kicking) Regina King, Tim Blake Nelson, Jeremy Irons, and more. The score will be helmed by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.
