Watch the First Trailer for HBO Max's Apocalyptic New Show 'DMZ'
Based on the DC Comic book series of the same title, Rosario Dawson will star in upcoming four-part HBO show DMZ, which will debut March 17th.
Rosario Dawson is back in action. Less than five years after starring as Claire Temple in MCU series Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders, Dawson joins DC Comics, starring as Alma Ortega in HBO Max limited series DMZ.
Created by Roberto Patino, DMZ is a four-part series held in an apocalyptic New York City where Ortega is a medic searching for her son amid a second civil war.
Here's the official synopsis: “DMZ leaps off the pages of the DC acclaimed graphic novel into the visual landscape of a dangerous and distorted Manhattan as one woman navigates a demilitarized zone in a harrowing quest to find her lost son.”
Directed and executive-produced by Ava DuVernay, Benjamin Bratt, Venus Ariel, Freddy Miyares, Hoon Lee and Jade Wu will also star in the series.
According to Deadline, DuVernay described the series as "a few moments in the future on what would be if the worst of our divisions get to us.”
“I couldn’t be more thrilled to bring this epic to the screen with my boundary-pushing partners at WBTV and HBO Max, a sublime cast led by Rosario and Benjamin, and my partner and friend, the inimitable and ever-inspiring Ava DuVernay,” Patino said in a statement. “DMZ offers up an explosive playground which, more than anything else, exalts the resilience of community and the human spirit. I can’t wait to welcome the die-hard fans of the comic books and new viewers alike to this intoxicating, haunting and inspiring world.”
DMZ premieres on HBO Max on March 17.
